A part of WWII where Russia was involved is called Great Patriotic War in Russia. And this is exactly what it was for Russians. War for survival, war that united all ethnic and social groups in a joint push for the victory, because it really meant a difference between living their lives freely or becoming a European colony with all the atrocities, genocide and slavery Europe always implements in its colonies.
This song, created in 1941 and extremely popular up to today, shows Russian attitude towards this war.
